It wasn’t until a 2019 Vogue Italia shoot, where every product on set had to carry a signed sustainability guarantee, that I was confronted with the pervasive greenwashing in the beauty industry.
This eye-opening experience made me realize that the brands I’d long trusted were not living up to their claims.
I turned to what I already knew. I grew up in eco-conscious Australia, where a deep respect for nature and the ocean was ingrained in me and profoundly influenced my daily life and work.
I recall running barefoot along the beaches and being mesmerized by the stunning beauty of the reefs off the Great Barrier Reef during my scuba diving adventures.
That grounding, paired with the biomimicry I'd studied in school, gave me a place to start.
Armed with my hero ingredients, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, and Algae, I worked with a lab to turn them into real formulas, testing them on my own clients and colleagues and refining each blend based on their feedback.
That's how I created my botanical haircare line.
