On a recent flight from DC to Doha I meet a fellow Aussie, Kristy, she was going to be on the same flight to Brisbane, she was going home, and Brisbane is also my hometown, Kristey is a graduate of QUT with a degree in engineering. It was her long shiny beautiful red hair that caught my attention, and of course while waiting to board the Doha to Brisbane flight we started chatting hair, I couldn’t resist.Â
I had to ask was her hair coloured or natural? It was so healthy and shiny, NO it was coloured, WOW great job to Artisinal Hair Company in Frederick. Today, you don’t need to be born a redhead to join in on the fun because these days, coloring services are so high tech that getting natural-looking hair has never been easier.Â
She did share that for the first two days it was a nightmare with colour run off and then the fading issues keeping the intensity the same in-between salon visits, the brighter shades are the first colors to fade and need to be maintained for vibrancy.Â
Here are a few of the tips I shared with her to help your fashion hair colour shade to last:Â
- Shampoo less, if you can shampoo weekly, this will help tremendously with minimizing your colour to fade.
- Use a neutral or low ph shampoo, you can get ph strip to test yourself at homeÂ
- Use a colour shampoo to compliment you hair colour, this will slightly refresh color with each shampoo.Â
- Use shampoo with no detergents, many clean (green and blue) hair care brands offer, you won’t get the big foamy cleanser you are use to, your hair will be cleansed thoroughly.Â
The WASH in the Jill Turnbull Beauty portfolio has a neutral ph, it’s antioxidant-rich rejuvenating ingredients in our WASH shampoo nourish the hair follicle, strengthen the hair, ande heal the hair with each shampoo to help eliminate fading and to ensure long lasting colour results.Â
Use a low ph, or neutral ph rinse out condition that closes the cuticle, stay away from styling products with silicones as theses can build up in a very short amount of time and cause major damage to your cuticle.Â
Use a daily leave-in conditioner to protect.
